Why did the opposition win the Polish election?
This brief examines Poland’s October 2023 parliamentary election. After eight years of increasingly bitter conflict between the EU’s supranational institutions and Poland’s right-wing government, opposition parties look set to form the next government. The brief gives insight to how the opposition benefited from an increase in support and turnout in larger towns and among younger voters – but also from middle-aged electors.
