The EU and Global Development Policy in Challenging Times

This report traces the evolution of the EU to become one of the world’s most prominent global development actors. Today, however, the European development policy is facing a number of challenges: an increased need for policy coherence, efficiency and legitimacy in its approach to development; the growing pressure of international migration; and lately the Covid-19 pandemic. The future EU development policy will have to address these issues head on, alongside the ever-present threat of climate change with its complex impact on global sustainable development.
