The Long War in Donbas: Causes and Consequences
The war in Donbas between the Ukrainian state and Russia controlled separatists has been a continuing conflict since March 2014, making it the longest armed conflict in Europe after the Second World War. This paper describes Donbas, its people and the events that led to war. The paper also analyses the course of the war, peacemaking efforts and the resulting situation in the separatist areas.
