Global security politics
Russia's full-scale, unlawful invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 shook an already strained global system. The perceived resurgence of the nuclear threat and increased militarization are shaping both our immediate neighbourhood and the wider international context. Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine has brought Sweden to NATO membership, where our security policy position is changing with an increasingly militarized Europe. This focus area therefore contributes to deepening our knowledge of global security policy, especially related to NATO, nuclear weapons, disarmament, and peacebuilding.
