Strategic Forum India
The Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) and Sweden India Business Council (SIBC) have the pleasure of inviting you to Strategic Forum India. The forum provides an opportunity to discuss geopolitical and domestic dynamics connected to India’s rise as a leading power.
India's emergence as a power in Asia and globally has been steady, although slower than expected 30 years ago. The country’s ambitions to become a leading power are increasingly matched with greater capacity and capability. Cooperation is deepened with traditional and new partners, and India’s armed forces are being modernized. At the same time the country is undergoing social and economic changes which affects domestic politics. Challenges are many: unemployment is increasing, and the infrastructure, health and education systems need further investments. Growing social tensions and the effect of the global climate crises are of concern. In spite of all these challenges, India continues its rise as a regional and global power.
