Kim Jong Un's North Korea: Domestic Politics, the Economy and Regional Security

n December 2011, Kim Jong Un was announced as successor to his late father Kim Jong Il. How has this isolated nation evolved under the rule of the third generation of the ‘Kim Dynasty’?  The seminar will highligt important developments, policy moves, and internal stability challenges in North Korea and how they have affected and will affect regional security and the international community.

Speaker: 
Rüdiger Frank is Professor of East Asian Economy and Society and Head of the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Vienna. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Korea University and the University of North Korean Studies (Kyungnam University) in Seoul. He holds an M.A. in Korean Studies, Economics and International Relations and a Ph.D. in Economics.
