Implementing Disaster Risk Reduction

Implementing Disaster Risk Reduction

The Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI), together with the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), held a seminar about the Sendai Framework and about the practical implementation of disaster risk reduction.

The Sendai Framework is the first of the four global policy decisions for sustainable development of 2015. Ahead of the Global Platform Conference in Mexico in May 2017, UI and MSB gather national and international experts to discuss how the Sendai Framework of Action is interconnected to other global frameworks focusing on resilience and sustainable development, such as Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement.

The seminar will illustrate efficient processes for cooperation and for division of responsibilities by the public and private sector, ranging from the global to the local level, and address the issue of how to create conditions for ‘good governance’ in implementing the global frameworks on resilience.
