Cyber Warfare: Deterrence and Response
Michael Chertoff, former US Secretary of Homeland Security, on cyber security strategies
Cyber security presents a truly new area of challenges. While propaganda has always been part of competitive politics, and political discourse is rampant with disinformation, today’s challenges to cyber security go much deeper. Cyberattacks aim to debilitate the functioning of modern societies and economies. How can we protect critical infrastructure while simultaneously delivering cutting edge cyber technology to advance the interests of our nations, people and the international community?
Michael Chertoff, on visit to Sweden, addressed these issues, drawing from his new book “Exploding Data: Reclaiming Our Cyber Security in the Digital Age”. The title of the UI Seminar was drawn from the book’s last chapter.
