What is at Stake in the Upcoming US Midterm Elections?
On November 6, the US heads to the polls for midterm elections, where all seats in the House of Representatives and 35 Senate seats will be in the running. What effects may the election results have on American politics and society?
Will the outcome effect the President’s appointment of judges, both at the federal level and to the Supreme Court? How will it impact his ability to get support for new legislation, such as the new USMCA trade agreement? What will happen to the Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare)? What is the state of the American political parties? Will we see any effects of women’s increased involvement in politics, particularly for the Democratic Party? What are the “swing states” to watch? What do opinion polls predict and how accurate are they?
