What’s at stake at COP26?
What are the most pressing issues at COP26? What are the views of the world’s largest emitters entering the negotiations?
As the world gathers in Glasgow for the 26th annual conference to assess progress in dealing with climate change on October 31 to November 12, there is undeniably a lot at stake. COP26 has been labelled the last good chance to avert a climate catastrophe. Recent projections show that the world is currently on course for an over 3-degree warming by the end of the century, far from the 1,5-degree target established in the Paris Agreement, which would result in humanitarian and ecological disaster.
Limiting global warming to 1,5 degrees will require urgent and monumental collective action. In this panel, experts explain the issues of science, politics, and justice that will arise at the summit and give the views of the world’s largest emitters - China, the United States, the EU and India - entering the negotiations.
