Swedish National China Centre
The Swedish National China Centre conducts policy-relevant research on China-related topics. The focus lies on issues of particular importance to Swedish interests. The Centre aims to contribute to a long-term improvement in the state of China-related knowledge in Swedish society.
Founding
The Centre was established in 2021 following an agreement between the Government Offices of Sweden and the Swedish Institute of International Affairs. Most of the Centre’s activities are financed by government funding.
Our mission
The Centre works with policy-relevant research, analysis of current global events, synthesis and scrutiny of existing research and expertise, as well as advice for decision makers. We also collaborate with other centres of expertise and stakeholders, both in Sweden and internationally. The Centre is a separate and independent part of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI)
Providing knowledge
The Centre’s main target groups are the Government Offices of Sweden and Sweden’s government agencies. Other target groups include the Swedish parliament, municipalities, regions, academia, industry, trade unions and civil society. In carrying out its mission, the Centre holds meetings, briefings, presentations and discussions with these target groups. The knowledge we provide them with is based on Swedish perspectives and interests, as well as insight into relevant Swedish factors.
